Discovering Ireland, making Friends, speaking English: My Erasmus Story in July 2025
I joined an English course at Intermediate level in Dublin, and it was a really great experience. From the start, the lessons were practical and interactive, with lots of discussions, group work, and interessting presentations. I noticed how much my vocabulary and confidence in speaking improved step by step. The best part, however, was spending time with my classmates outside the classroom – together we discovered many new places, which made the learning experience even more special and gave me the chance to practice English in real-life situations.
During the course, we also visited and explored many important sites, museums, and landmarks, such as St. Patrick's Cathedral, Christ Church, and Mary’s Church. I really enjoyed seeing the Oscar Wilde statue, the EPIC Museum, the National Gallery, and various bronze statues – all of which were fascinating to me.
At the EPIC Museum, I learned a lot about Irish emigration and the global Irish diaspora. The museum was interactive and engaging, showing the stories of Irish emigrants around the world. I discovered why many people left Ireland, the challenges they faced, and how they settled in different countries. The exhibits, including artifacts, multimedia presentations, and personal stories, gave me a better understanding of Ireland’s cultural identity and its connections worldwide.
I also visited the National Museum of Ireland, which has an impressive Viking collection – from jewelry and weapons to everyday objects and grave goods.
Additionally, I explored Howth and its cliffwalk, enjoyed fish and chips at the harbor, and admired the stunning scenery. I also took a bus to Glendalough and Rossbourogh House, where I joined a guided tour full of fascinating details.
One of my personal highlights was joining a dance class at Europass School – it was a lot of fun! I met people and fantastic teachers from many different countries, learned about their cultures, customs, and traditions, and we even connected for future Erasmus projects.
This made the experience even more memorable and gave me lasting international connections and friendships.
From Ireland with Erasmus spirit, Brigitte
