On the 19th of September, our teachers and a tour guide took us on a trip through the Lahemaa Nationalpark. The park was established to preserve the ecosystem and the biodiversity of the area. The landscape of the national park is characterized by a beautiful coastline, ocean bays, forests, moors, rivers, and lakes. Our first stop was at a tower, where an older lady and her friend told us about the history of the tower. Afterwards we looked around to see the different rooms and then finally we made a toast with her. The next stop was the beautiful Lahemaa Nationalpark, where we walked along a path. The more we went into the park, the fewer trees there were, until only a few could be seen. We went up a tower where we had an incredible view. Afterwards we went to “Palmse mois-vabaohumuuseum” a beautiful old house which is now a public museum. While in the house, we saw various rooms and looked at the beautiful park. If you visit Estonia, you have to visit the fishing village Altja. There you can look at old traditional houses of the fishermen and go back in time. Lastly, the final impressive destination in Lahemaa National Park was the Jägala waterfall. This waterfall can be admired from above or below. In the winter it consist of a frozen wall which should be even more beautiful.
These are just my personal favorite places at the national park. There are so many more wonderful places to visit. I wish you a nice weekend and I look forward to hearing your feedback about the Lahemaa National Park!
