Night Song Festival

The Nigh Song Festival occurs in Tallinn during September. I was lucky enough to get to go this year.

My friend and I attended this Night Song Festival on Freedom Square in Tallinn. For this event, a stage was set up where various artists performed while the audience sang and danced along. It was an overwhelming feeling to stand in the middle of the crowd.

Short review in the history:
In 1989, millions of people fought for their independence by creating a human chain from Tallin to Vilinius. Instead of fighting physically, the people of the Baltic States sang various folk songs passed down through generations to show their national identity. Therefore, it was not surprising that it was very emotional when it came to the "National Anthem". It was a touching moment that cannot be put into words. I am so glad that I saw this incredible festival with my own eyes.

I really recommend the movie "The Singing Revolution" by James Tusty and Maureen Castle Tusty. This film gives a very good insight into the happenings of this time. After this experience, it is a dream of mine to someday see the official singing festival. Wish you a wonderful weekend!

Greetings from Tallinn :)
