A group of librarians from different Austrian libraries, including myself, took the chance to learn about the digital services in Berlin's libraries. The job shadowing was organized by the Büchereiverband Österreichs (Austrian Library Association) and financed by Erasmus+.
For three days, we were able to explore different libraries, including the Bezirkszentralbibliothek Pablo Neruda, the Zentral- und Landesbibliothek Berlin and the Stadtbibliothek Reinickendorf. We learned about the variety of e-ressources they offer, about necessary licenses and digital infrastructure. In addition to a workshop on the digital services of Berlin's libraries, we were able to get an insight into the daily work of German colleagues and explore numerous libraries - in keeping with the theme - with Actionbound Ralleys. While trying out various robotics tools in a modern makerspace, we got numerous ideas for our own libraries. The job shadowing was an enriching experience.
