When speaking directly with Italian athletes, many explained that they joined not through formal rehabilitation programs, but because friends or acquaintances invited them to give curling a try. This personal, word-of-mouth approach created a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, encouraging newcomers to stay and become part of the community.
Once new athletes joined, they were not just offered training, but also integrated into the social life of the club. This sense of belonging and community clearly played a large role in keeping members engaged long term.
