Hey!

So first let me introduce myself. My name is Beatrice Victoria Machata and I come from Austria, where I study Law at the University of Vienna.

In February I spontanously decided to make a semester abroad with Erasmus+. What I knew from the very first second was that I want to spend it somewhere in the UK. I wished to go to an English-speaking country because I think that’s the best way to improve one’s English. As I had not been to Scotland before and I loved everything I heard about it, I decided to put Edinburgh as my first choice.

I could not have been happier when I found out I would really go there! Immediately I started to google this city to find out everything about it.

In early September my journey started and showed me that my decision to choose Edinburgh as the city I would live 4 months in, had been the right one. I fell in love with Scotland the minute I arrived!

And now, 1 1/2 months later, I am still as happy as in the beginning.

On the picture you see the Craiglockhart Campus of my university, the Napier University. The Business School is located there. While staying here I am doing 3 modules: Business and Corporate Law, Law of Human Rights and Scottish Culture and Society. I chose the last one, which is a non-law module, because it gives me the opportunity to find out more about the history, the people of Scotland and their customs.

In the following weeks I will take you on a journey to the most beautiful places in Scotland!

PS: Did you notice how green the grass is? Edinburgh is such a green city with lots of parks!
