Summer, sun and beach- that are things I really love :) 

This year I had/have to work the whole summer so I am not able to travel to Croatia, Spain or Italy like the years before. First I was really sad about that but then I just thought: Make the best out of it and explore the things you can do in your new home when the weather is nice. And I have to say that there are millions of great things you can do. No matter if you love swimming or enjoy hikes, you can do all of these activities in and around Heidelberg. The Neckar is perfect for boat trips and if you want to have some international feeling, just take the bus and enjoy a day in Straßbourg. Two events I can really recommend are the Heidelberger Castle Illumination and Fireworks and the Heidelberger Schlossfestspiele. Both take place in and aournd the castle which is an amazing location. 

The Castle Illumination takes place 3 times per year and starts in the evening after sunset. You have a great view from the river Neckar or the Philosopher´s walk.

The Schlossfestpiele is a theatre festival with many different plays. I had a wonderful night with friends watching the musical "Kiss me Kate".
