When I went to Heidelberg, I would never have imagined to see a prince and a princess in real life. Especially not at my workplace. But it had come differently. It all started with some rumours and newspaper articles until it was finally confirmed in early July that William and Kate are going to visit the dkfz during their residency in Germany. The days before, walls were painted and everything was polished to high gloss. The tension was felt more and more every day. All employees received an e-mail with the procedure and the regulations for the visit. When the day was ready, it was not possible to think of normal work. Everyone was full of anticipation and  my colleagues and I gathered in our kitchen to catch a glimpse on the prince and princess. Many people had waited in front of the building to welcome the high visit. As soon as they arrived people were taking photos and cheering loudly. Already after 30 minutes the visit was over again and the day went on normally. Nevertheless, it was really great to be part of the experience.
